Ryan, who lived in Brooklyn, graduated with the Greenwich High School Class of 2010 and the College of Wooster Class of 2014, his obituary says. He was passionate about music and comedy.
Friends and loved ones remembered McCormack as a great friend with a large presence.
"From the very beginning, his presence on campus was so large and became a part of so many friend groups, clubs, study sessions, late-night debauchery, etc.," college friend Martha Oster-Beal wrote on Ryan's obituary.
"I have many happy memories of him, especially from that first year when he truly made a profound impact on my life. Ryan was hilarious and outgoing but also quietly perceptive and thoughtful. He valued friendships and beautiful landscapes. He put so much effort into the things he loved: frisbee, improv, music, schoolwork, getting to know someone."
"I was lucky to do theater with Ryan in high school and no one has ever made me laugh quite like he did," Ella Dawson said.
"He had the most bizarre, brilliant way of thinking, and his deadpan delivery of one-liners and observations left all of us in stitches constantly. We were polar opposites who needled each other — I was uptight and a stickler for order and rules, and he had this chaotic, fun energy that made rehearsals unforgettable.
"Even when we clashed, we respected each other, and I wanted to impress him so much. I'm so grateful that he introduced me to Radiohead, and that he taught me how to relax and lighten up when I needed it most. My thoughts are with Ryan's family. He'll be deeply missed."
Ryan is survived by his parents, Donald and Maggie McCormack; and his sisters, Kellyn and Kate McCormack, according to his obituary.
Burial was private.
